More Than Half of 2.0-liter TDIs RepurchasedWhile it’s costly and ultimately lead to the scrapping of scores of 2.0-liter diesel VW cars, the Small Wonder firm says it’s ahead of schedule in removing its polluting vehicles from American roads. Since November 2016 VW has bought back or terminated the leases on 238,000 of 475,000 diesel vehicles. They’re parked at nearly 30 lots nationwide. The firm has two years to complete the buyback process. VW must buy back or repair at least 85% of these vehicles by 2019 or face penalties. Today, it’s begun repairing 6,200 cars.
