VW Builds 700,000th US Passat, Tues May 8: VW’s Chattanooga plant reached a milestone. It assembled its 700,000th Passat—a Reflex Silver GT model with VR6 engine. The limited-edition GT was designed by the firm’s North American engineering hub in Tennessee and its California Design Center. VW claims the Passat GT is a sports sedan that combines comfort and good fuel economy. The car features a sport suspension that lowers the vehicle’s stance. A black roof, 19-inch wheels and GTI-like red accents set this car apart from the mainstream midsize sedan. Car-Net App Adds Features
VW of America announced that its Car-Net mobile app gains new features Wednesday May 9. Curfew Alert and Valet Alert notify owners if their vehicles are driven with permission. Parking information, provided by Parkopedia, helps drivers locate off-street parking. Existing features of this service include remote locking, vehicle diagnostics, and even stolen vehicle location assistance. Customers with new VWs equipped with Car-Net receive a six-month trial subscription form Verizon Telematics. A one-year subscription costs $199.
