VW Reports Oct. 2018 Sales Increase VW of America’s Oct. 2018 sales (29,000) increased 4.6% compared to Oct. 2017. SUVs comprised 43% of its deliveries. The Jetta (10,148; +10%), long-wheelbase Tiguan (7,097; +84%), Atlas (4,725; +29%) and Passat (2,602; -34%) were its best selling models. Shopper bought 3,005 (-35%) Golf family vehicles including the Golf, GTI and SportWagen. Only 390 were Golf TSI hatchbacks. VW sold 1293 GTIs and 1196 SportWagens (includes Alltrack). In sum, VW’s SUV sales increased 38%; its car sales slipped 11%. For the year, VW sales are 295,228 (+5.4%) with the Tiguan its top selling model (74,329). Audi’s Sales Streak Hits Roadblock
Audi’s nearly nine-year increasing sales streak ended. It sold 16,056 vehicles (-17%). The Q5 (6,252; +15%) is its best-selling model followed by the Q7 (3,146; 8%) and the A4 sedan (2,267; -21%). Audi didn’t explain the sudden drop. It’s rolling out new models, such as the A6 (47; -96%). For the year, Audi sold 18,3476 vehicles (+1.7%).
