Herndon, VA (June 2, 2015) — VWoA today reported sales of 34,758 units delivered in May 2015.
The all-new Golf family of vehicles posted its best numbers since 2000: 6,308 units including 410 e-Golfs, 1,788 SportWagens and 1,972 Golfs. VW says total Golf/GTI sales( 6,308 units) represent a 252% increase over last year, when the new version rolled out.
“We are encouraged by the performance of the Golf family,” said Mark McNabb, VW's chief operating officer.
The midsize Passat totaled 8,180 units. Volkswagen recently introduced a value-rich Limited Edition version.
VW's fresh-for-2015 Jetta sedan is its core model: 12,650 units delivered, a 5% increase.
Touareg and Tiguan deliveries also bested last year's figures.
Audi Posted 53 Months of Sales Increases
May 2015 was the second-best ever result (18,428), since Audi began selling vehicles in the USA, during 1970.
The compact Q3 roared ahead; Audi's SUV sales were up 37%. Its best seller: the Q5 (4,280 units).
