VW Recalls 281,000 VehiclesVW will recall 2009-2016 model year CCs and 2006-2010 Passats with four cylinder engines. Engines could stall due to fuel-pump computer failure. The computer can lose electrical power stopping fuel flow, causing the engine to stall. Additionally, the pump might not turn off when it should. VW Engineer SentencedJames Liang, an engineer who pleaded guilty to violating the Clean Air Act for his role in helping VW evade diesel emissions standards, was sentenced to 40 months imprisonment and will pay a $200,000 fine. Audi’s New MathAudi’s German headquarters announced a new naming scheme. It plays with numbers. Currently, rear-lid badges indicate engine displacement (2.0T for example). Audi will replace them with two-digit numbers that reflect relative power output in kilowatts. It will do this regardless of whether the power source is an engine or an electric motor. The current 3.0 T (or TFSI) could become the 55 TFSI. Eight new model names are planned with 30 for 109 hp thru 129 hp, 50 for 281 hp to 308 hp and 70 for more than 536 hp. High-performance S and RS models will retain their current engine size designations.
