VW’s U.S. year-over-year July 2018 sales were up 12.7% (30,520). This beat the industry average (-3.7%). VW’s top selling models were Jetta (6,938), Tiguan (6,636) and Atlas (6,499). For the year, VW’s sales are up 8.01% (203,418). VW’s car model sales slid -22.2% (Passat) to -43.2 % (Golf family). In contrast, SUV deliveries increased by 397.6% Atlas and 1,019.1% Tiguan. Those awesome numbers are skewed due to low start-up production figures. Nonetheless, VW’s SUV lineup offset its slumping car sales.
Audi posted a 2.1% increase (19,221). Its Q5 leads the four-ring pack (6,512; +58%), followed by the A4 sedan (3,433; +17) and the Q7 (2922; -12%). For the year, Audi sales are up 4.4% (127,163).
