VW Creates e-Buggy Tribute to the California-Dreaming Meyers Manx
In March at the International Geneva Motor Show, VW reveals a fully electric version of a dune buggy. It rides atop the brand’s modular electric drive matrix called MEB. VW’s design chief Klaus Bischoff says this concept vehicle demonstrates the emotional bond that electric mobility creates. VW claims its MEB, like the Beetle’s body-on-frame construction, has the potential to facilitate development of low-volume niche vehicles. Whereas the Beetle chassis became the basis for California-ready fun machines, this new dune buggy utilizes the versatile MEB’s flat-battery platform. The new no-top, no-conventional-door dune buggy has large off-road tires and open side sills. Meyers Manx?
