VW Selects Hinrich Woebcken as North American Head, New Mexico AG Sues VW Hinrich Woebcken
Jan. 19: VW appointed Hinrich Woebcken as head of the North American region. The engineer and former BMW manager becomes Chairman of VW Group of America. Michael Horn continues as VWoA CEO. Jan. 19: Reports say VW might hire Louis Freeh, a former FBI head, to help it deal with U.S. authorities. VW’s special advisory board’s union rep, however, is opposed to hiring Freeh. The union argues that Christine Hohmann-Dennhart already performs Freeh’s proposed role. Jan. 20: New Mexico’s Attorney General Hector Balderas filed a lawsuit late Tuesday. He alleges that VW, Audi and Porsche violated New Mexico’s air quality standards and engaged in deceptive marketing. Balderas is the first U.S. AG to sue VW.
